STURGIS, SD — Knights of Columbus council 6341 from the St. Francis of Assisi parish held their annual Free Throw Championship on Sunday, Jan. 29 at the Armory on Main Street in Sturgis.
The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship is open to girls and boys, ages 9 to 14, who compete in their respective age divisions. Each participant gets three warm up tosses, then shoots 15 consecutive free throws. The winner of each division moves on to the District competition, which will be held on Sunday, Feb. 5 at the Sturgis Community Center. District winners will compete at the State competition,
The winners of the council free throw championship are: Layton Wilson and Pyper Pool, 9-year-old division; Landry Wilson and Spencer Proefrock, 10-year-old division; Sydney Andrzejewski, 11-year-old girls division; Marleigh Kleinsasser, 12-year-old girls division; Bella Willuweit, 13-year-old girls division.
