Kristopher Hargens

Kristopher Hargens

Kristopher Hargens was born in Huron, South Dakota, on September 16, 1982. He was the firstborn child of Daniel and Mary Hargens. He had two siblings, Elizabeth Jansen and Victoria Norbeck.

On Friday, April 19, 2024, Kris lost the battle he carried out against lifelong and compounded health issues. He was surrounded by his family and died having his hands held. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Kris (Topher) was raised in South Dakota and lived his adult life in Spearfish. He had a beautiful daughter, Kynlee Mae Hargens. She was his world, and he was hers. He was a very loving man and was known for his all-embracing hugs and big smile.

Growing up, Kris loved to laugh. He loved to play sports and be active. He enjoyed mechanicing with his father, and spending time with friends and family. As a young man, he was always supportive to his sisters. He also was very close with his mother, calling her every week. He fell in love with Stephani Kunkel in 2010. They had beautiful Kynlee Mae on August 4, 2017.

He chose to become one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on September 3, 2005.He maintained a strong love for God and the teachings of the Bible. He also loved being outside on a four-wheeler or hunting and fishing. He shared that love with his family and especially his daughter. They shared many memories at Iron Creek Lake and Spearfish City Park.

Kris was a very strong worker, even working hard while dealing with his multiple illnesses. He fought so much to stay strong for his family and to be such a great father. Despite his disabilities, he worked part time building furniture. The rest of his time was devoted to Jehovah and his daughter.

How ever you knew him, either as Kris, Topher, Toph, or the many other nicknames he had, he was greatly loved, and will be missed by all.
