STURGIS, S.D. – Winter Storm Warnings for most of extreme western South Dakota have been allowed to expire, although roads this morning remain slippery and snow covered.
Kadoka, Philip, White River and areas in south central South Dakota remain under a Winter Storm Warning until 9:00 a.m. and no travel is advised on I-90 from Rapid City eastward. No travel advisories also remain on most roads south of I-90.
In Sturgis, crews were out at 4:00 a.m. to begin clearing major arteries and snow routes. They will move to the residential areas as those routes are cleared.
Snow totals coming in this morning indicate a foot in Hill City, 9 inches at Mount Rushmore, between 7 and 8 in downtown Rapid City and a report of 6 inches in Piedmont.
