RAPID CITY, S.D. – Area law enforcement are urging riders and residents to watch out for each other as the annual motorcycle rally gets underway.
Pennington County Sheriff Brian Mueller.
Sturgis Police Chief Geody Vandewater shares that sentiment and says patience is the key during rally week.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the Sturgis area becomes the largest city in the state during Rally time and that leads to accidents.
The patrol says over the past three days, they have responded to 12 motorcycle crashes with injuries, including 4 fatalities.
The patrol begins their annual rally tally today and will issue daily results beginning Saturday.
