Lead fire crews quickly knock down fire inside home Monday

LEAD, S.D. – The Lead Fire Department responded to a report of a smoke filled home just after 8:00 a.m. on Monday.

Upon arrival, Firefighters discovered contents within a room of the home were ignited and burning freely. The fire was quickly knocked down and any extension was stopped.

Lead Units: Engine 3, Rescue 4, and Squad 7 responded to the incident.

Assisting Agencies were the Deadwood Volunteer Fire Department, Lead Police Department, Black Hills Energy, and the Monument Health Northern Hills Ambulance.

The Lead Fire Department says Incidents like this are prime examples of the necessity of having working smoke detectors in your home as well as the immediate action needed to call 911 when an event occurs. Fire can grow rapidly if left unchecked – which makes timely response even more important.
