Lead reports just over one million in 2019 sales tax revenue

LEAD, S.D. – The city of Lead’s sales tax numbers for 2019 hit the one-million dollar mark for the first time in years.

The city reported $1,018,083 in sales tax revenue last year. That is up over $227,000 from the 2018 report.

City Administrator MikeStrahl said the main reason for the higher numbers this past year was construction at the Sanford Underground Research Facility and bed and booze taxes.

Lead budgeted sales tax revenue at 2020 at $750,000 – up $20,000 from 2019.
