Lindbergh Avenue home in Rapid City suffers smoke damage in fire

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Fire Department responded to a structure fire Sunday night.

According to RC Fire, Stations 1, 3 and 7 responded to the report of a structure fire in the 600 block of Lindbergh Avenue in northern Rapid City.

When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke conditions inside the home with the fire located on one end of the home. Firefighters reacted quickly and were able to stop the forward progress of the fire. The home sustained heavy smoke damage.

 
One occupant of the home was inside when the fire broke out. That individual was able to escape safely and was evaluated by RCFD EMS. The occupant refused treatment and support.

Crew members remained on the scene until after 10:00 p.m. completing overall and mop-up of hot spots. Firefighters will periodically monitor the scene throughout the night.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Rapid City Fire Department.
