Little League World Series run for Sioux Falls comes up short

WILLIAMSPORT, Penn. – A valiant comeback effort fell a little short for the Sioux Falls Little League team as they fell 5-2 to a team from Ohio Saturday.

Ohio struck first with a four run, second inning, fueled by a few hits and a couple of errors.

Ohio added a fifth run in the fifth inning and led Sioux Falls 5-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth.

Sioux Falls made it interesting, and got a run across to make it 5-2. It looked like team South Dakota might make some noise, as they loaded the bases with no outs.

But a strikeout and pop fly out quickly put an end to the comeback as a great backhanded play by Maddox Jones at third ended the game with the third out.

Sioux Falls will play at 9:00 a.m. CT on Sunday, August 29 in the consolation game for third place.
