Lloyd Curtis Boisjolie was born September 6th, 1952 in Fargo, North Dakota. He was the son of Lloyd Anton Boisjolie and Maxine Alvda Schatz. Lloyd spent his younger years in Casselton and Valley City, ND with his younger brother Bruce. Lloyd graduated from the Valley City High School in North Dakota and after high school he entered the U.S. Navy.
Lloyd worked in Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, and he also worked for Hiller Aviation where he was the Leadman. During this time, he met Laura Williams. They lived in the California area and together they had 3 sons Christopher, Curtis and Dustin. Lloyd was a proud father and very proud of all his boys.
Lloyd moved back to North Dakota and settled in Fargo, North Dakota where he worked as a shop foreman for Branick. He loved to work with his hands and he loved hard work. Lloyd also had a draftsman degree and was very skilled at drawing and designing. He had an eye for detail. In his spare time he loved to ride his Harley and he also enjoyed biking and running.
In 2007 Lloyd met Jena Laber in Fargo, North Dakota. They both enjoyed attending church together and hiking. Every weekend they would go hiking and exploring and this love of the outdoors continued when they moved to the Black Hills of South Dakota. They settled in Spearfish, South Dakota in 2009 and Lloyd worked for a friend in Gillette, Wyoming as a parts runner for Trecoby Services. During his time working there he helped his friend build 2 custom motorcycles which Lloyd always wanted to do.
In 2019 Lloyd and Jena became members of New Covenant Presbyterian Church. This became very important to them because of the closeness of the church family. In 2020 Lloyd developed several medical conditions that made it difficult for him to do the things he enjoyed in life, but through it all he remained positive, and he was a true believer in God. He never blamed God for his health problems, and he stayed strong in his faith. Lloyd remained in his home throughout his health battles with Jena taking care of him and he was always with his constant companion Lucy Lou his Manx cat.
Lloyd died peacefully at the age of 71, on Wednesday August 28, 2024 at his home. He is survived by Jena, and Jena’s children Adam of Spearfish. Jessica and Austin Everson of Grand Forks, ND. Lloyd’s children in California; sons, Christopher, Curtis and grandson Bennet, his son Dusty Boisjolie and Dusty’s wife Nathalie and grandchildren Luc and Lucy. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bruce, Jena’s son Anthony Stroklund and many other relatives.
A memorial service will be held 11am Friday, September 13th, 2024 at the New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Spearfish. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery, with military honors. Arrangements are with Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.
