Lyle Reynolds, age 76, of Gold Canyon, Arizona, formerly of Murdo, South Dakota, died on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at his home in Gold Canyon.

Graveside services with military honors will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2024 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Following the graveside service a picnic lunch/celebration of life will be held at Rushmore Shadows RV Resort. The address is: 23680 Busted Five Ct, Rapid City, SD. Lunch will be served in the Picnic Pavilion area.

Lyle Ken Reynolds, 76, of Gold Canyon, Arizona passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2024. He was surrounded by family.

Lyle was born in Murdo, South Dakota on July 24, 1947 to James Alvah (Babe) and Verna Reynolds. He graduated from Murdo High School in 1965. After high school, he joined the military and served in the United States Navy from 1966-1970.

On August 12, 1977, he married Lynn Sweeney in Presho, South Dakota. They moved to Colorado where Lyle served as cattle foreman on feed lots, worked as a computer programmer until the company moved its business overseas and then he returned to college where he received his accounting degree. In 2009, he retired.

Lyle and Lynn moved to Arizona in 2014 to enjoy retirement.

Lyle enjoyed life to the fullest. He volunteered for the Greeley Independence Stampede for several years and then volunteered in Rocky Mountain National Park for 10 years. He enjoyed cruises, hiking, mountain climbing and riding his ATV. Family, friends and country were very important to Lyle.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn Reynolds, sister, Lea Reynolds and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Babe and Verna Reynolds and his sisters, Linda Lee and Charlene Ortman.

Lyle’s philosophy on life was, Life is not meant to be a journey to the grave in a pretty and well preserved body…. But rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaim, WOW WHAT A JOURNEY!!!!!!!
