Lynda Diann Reed, 74, Black Hawk SD, passed away January 22, 2024 at Monument Health Rapid City.
Lynda was born in Belle Fourche, SD, on September 16, 1949 to Charles “Toots” and Delores (Meade) Volin. Growing up she lived on the Little Missouri River bordering Montana and South Dakota. The family moved to Rapid City, SD, in 1962. She graduated from St. Martin’s Academy in 1967. Following graduation, she got her registered nursing degree and worked in that field for 40 years.
Lynda met the love of her life, Nick Reed, and they were married May 25, 1984. Together they enjoyed fishing, camping, and snowmobiling. Lynda loved her TV, especially history, documentaries, and sports. She was also an avid reader and loved her music. She had quite the collection of LPs. And, of course, we loved to hear her sing at weddings, funerals, or just to fire up a party! She loved the family dogs, liked to knit and often played scrabble with her dad.
Lynda was generous and kind to all she met and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Lynda is survived by husband, Nick Reed; sister, Dixie Hunsaker; brother, Leo Volin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Toots and Peggy Volin; sister, Connie Baertsch; brother, Chuck Volin; nephews, Scott Baertsch and Jake Volin; and brother-in-law, Dave Hunsaker.
