Mammoth Site at Hot Springs to reopen to the public on May 22

HOT SPRINGS, S.D. – The Mammoth Site of Hot Springs announced this week that they plan to reopen to the public on May 22, 2020.

The Site says that it understands this is a very fluid situation as it changes daily and will continue to monitor it closely. They will continue to work with Local and State Leaders on the steps to ensure the safety of employees and visitors.

The Mammoth Site is making changes and upgrades as they move toward a reopen to the public. For example, visitors can expect to see physical barriers at all registers, they ask guests to use touchless transactions as much as possible.

The Mammoth Site will no longer offer guided tours as an option. Visitors can instead download a self-guided tour app before arriving at the Site.

The Site also asks that visitors please practice the physical distancing guidelines of 6 feet or 2 meters apart from each other.

There will be signage reminding guests of physical distancing as well as added hand sanitizer stations throughout the museum for guests and employees.
