Man arrested after leading police on chase involving two vehicles

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police say a man from Marty led them on a chase Tuesday involving two vehicles.

Police say Luke Dvoracek allegedly stole an SUV from the 100 block of Doolittle Street, which had been left unattended with the keys still inside. Authorities were able to use the vehicle’s OnStar network to disable it and Dvoracek stole another unsecured vehicle with a firearm inside.

Police pursued him initially, but terminated it due to safety reasons.

The stolen pickup was spotted again Tuesday night and after another chase, spike strips were used to disable the vehicle.

Dvoracek was ultimately placed under arrest for aggravated eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle, obstruction, leaving the scene of a crash, and a warrant before being transported to the Pennington County Jail.
