BANGOR, ME. – Governor Kristi Noem was at a Trump campaign rally in Bangor, Maine on Wednesday, when a man was arrested for waving a wooden baton and a large knife.
No one was hurt, and a Noem spokesman says the Governor was never in any danger.
It was the Governor’s security detail that was really part of this excitement.
Bangor Police Spokesman, Sgt. Wade Betters says Noem’s security officers noticed the man harassing people gathered at the rally in the parking lot of a strip mall, and called local police.
Sgt. Betters says the man became upset when the security officers approached. He eventually started brandishing the weapons, but then returned to his vehicle and put them away.
Peter Beitzell, 58, of Bangor was charged with Criminal Threatening and Disorderly Conduct. He is already out of jail on a $200 cash bail.
Governor Noem and other campaign surrogates were at the rally. President Donald Trump was not there. He was at a rally in Arizona, as the presidential election swiftly counts down to the finish.
