SPEARFISH, S.D. – Law enforcement in Lawrence County say they have arrested 26-year-old Cade Scholten of Spearfish in connection with a series of burglaries.
Scholten was accused of targeting video lottery businesses in Belle Fourche, Lawrence County and Spearfish.
According to authorities, Scholten broke into a video lottery machine, stealing its contents on Jan. 29.
Then on Jan. 31, Scholten allegedly broke into video lottery machines at Common Cents in Belle Fourche, causing significant damage and theft of funds.
Multiple agencies identified Scholten and received a search warrant for his home, which led to his arrest.
Scholten faces multiple charges, including 2nd and 3rd-degree robbery, first-degree intentional damage to property, felony manipulation of a video lottery machine and theft.
Scholten faces charges in Butte and Lawrence Counties, as well as charges in Spearfish and Lawrence County for incidents in September and October of 2024.
