Man arrested with guns, possible explosives during Rally makes court appearance

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The man arrested on his way to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally with guns and possible explosives in his car made a court appearance Wednesday.

John Charles Matthew Mann , 42 of Washington state, pleaded not guilty to one count of making terrorist threats and one  count of possession of a hoax substance or device to cause fear. He was arrested after a routine traffic stop in Butte County.

Court documents indicate law enforcement found two A.R. 15 rifles, body armor, three handguns, bomb making material and a device that appeared to be a pipe  bomb in his  car.

Mann is being held on a $250,000 cash bond.

He is scheduled to back in court for a bond hearing on September 20.
