RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City man was in court Monday, related to a February shooting at the Family Dollar in North Rapid City that left one man dead.
Derrek Brave Heart is facing four charges that allege similar crimes: one charge for second-degree murder and three variations of manslaughter in the first degree. If convicted, Brave Heart would only serve time for one of the charges.
Brave Heart’s attorney requested his bond be reduced but that was denied. The state claimed Brave Heart is a danger to the community.
The maximum sentence for any of the charges Brave Heart is facing is life in prison.
