RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City man who plead guilty to arson was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Friday.
Raymond Andrezejewski, 69, pleaded guilty but mentally ill to a string of arson fires in December 2020 and January 2021.
The defense asked for a provisional sentence, which would put Andrezejewski at the state Human Services Center instead of prison to treat his mental illness.
But, the prosecution argued against the provisional sentence, saying the services necessary to treat his mental illness could be provided in prison.
Craig Pfeifle, Seventh Circuit Judge, ultimately sentenced Andrezejewski to 10 years in prison and ordered hm to pay more than 50-thousand dollars in restitution.
