RAPID CITY, S.D. – A 21-year-old man was in court Friday and was arraigned on charges related to a fatal shooting in March.

Luke Birch is charged with first-degree murder and has pleaded not guilty.

Birch is charged in connection with the death of 24-year-old McGarland Walker. The two allegedly had gotten into an argument at Candlewood Apartments before the shooting happened on March 8.

Birch’s next court appearance has been set for May 10.

He remains in jail in lieu of a $2 million dollar cash bond.
