RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City man charged with murder is scheduled to go to trial in May.
Luke Birch, 21, has pleaded not guilty to first degree murder in the shooting death of 24-year-old McGarland Walker.
The shooting took place at the Candlewood Apartments in West Rapid City.
Birch has spent the last several months in the Pennington County jail, held on a $2 million bond.
In court Tuesday, the defense announced they were ready to set a five-day trial that will begin next year. The trial is set for May 19 through the 23, with a pre-trial hearing scheduled for April 15.
