RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Pennington County man convicted of third-degree rape has been sentenced.
Brandon Robbins, 32, stayed at a family member’s house in February of 2023 after consuming excessive alcohol. The victim reported that Robbins sexually assaulted her during his stay.

Robbins pleaded no contest to charges of third-degree rape, a Class 2 felony with penalties of up to 25 years in prison and/or a $50,000 fine.
In his sentencing argument, Major Crime Unit Prosecutor Adam Shiffermiller emphasized the impact of Robbins’s crime on the victim, noting that it has “significantly altered the rest of her life.”
Brandon Robbins was ultimately sentenced to 12 years in prison with 5 years suspended.
