Man dies after being removed from septic tank

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office says a man died near Spearfish after being removed from a septic tank he was working in.

Spearfish Canyon Fire Department, Monument Health Lead-Deadwood Ambulance, and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Highway 14a residence.

First responders placed the 22-year-old Crook County Wyoming resident into an ambulance for transport. The man was later pronounced dead.

The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting an investigation into the death with the assistance of the Lawrence County Coroner.
