Man identified in fatal crash east of Newell

NEWELL, S.D. — A North Dakota man has has been identified as the victim in last Thursday’s crash east of Newell.

Preliminary information indicates the 2010 GMC Acadia 37-year-old Dustin Vaughn of Jamestown was driving was westbound on Highway 212 when it rear-ended a semi-truck/trailer. Vaughn was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger, 24 year-old Brandi Glaser suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a Rapid City hospital. Neither occupant in the GMC was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the semi-truck/trailer, Michael Petersen of Ridgeview, SD, was not injured in the crash. He was wearing a seatbelt.
