HILL CITY, S.D. – A name has been released in relation to a fatal motorcycle crash in Hill City on Wednesday, July 31.
Joel Gary Erickson, a 60-year-old man from Montgomery, Minnesota, was traveling eastbound on Old Hill City Road at 6:12 p.m. on July 31. He lost control of the bike, which slid and flipped before coming to rest on the shoulder.
At the time of the crash, Erickson was not wearing a helmet. He was transported from the scene of the accident to a hospital in Rapid City, where he was pronounced dead.
The crash is still under investigation.
