RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City man has pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter on Monday in the death of his sister.
On Sept. 22, 2022, 29-year-old Nicklaus Houchin was delivering food for an online service with his sister, Danielle, and several others when she was killed.
In court Monday, Houchin’s attorney said his sister Danielle was having an altercation with his mother in the car, and Nicklaus was trying to split them up when he ended up choking his sister, killing her.
The group dialed 911 from a parking lot on Eglin Street. She died on the way to the hospital.
Houchin faces up to life in prison when he’s sentenced on March 25.
