RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Virginia man pleaded guilty in Federal Court in Rapid City Wednesday to charges of enticement of a minor.
Tyler Grimes, 26, was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor and enticement of a minor using the internet back in 2022 when he used an online messaging app to contact the victim in this case.
In a factual basis statement to the court, Grimes admitted to repeatedly asking the 7-year-old victim for sexually explicit images. The investigation found 37 images and 22 videos of child pornography on the victim’s iPad which were then sent to the Grimes at his request.
After Grime’s plea, the prosecution moved to hold him in detention until his next court date. Magistrate Judge Daneta Wollman approved the motion.
Grimes faces anywhere from 10 years to life in prison.
