RAPID CITY, S.D. – The man who earlier pleaded guilty to the first-degree manslaughter of Edleigha Little was sentenced in 7th Circuit Court Monday.
Pedro Simmental was given 15 years in prison for his role in the death of Little.
Simmental was accused of striking Little in the head with a can of beans after the two got into a confrontation. His blood alcohol at the time of the killing was .474.
In court, Simental said he does take responsibility for his actions and hopes his accepting of a plea deal shows Little’s family and the community that he intended to do no harm.
