Marlyn Dale Aker

Marlyn Dale Aker, 69, passed on July 15, 2024, as Monument Health in Rapid City, SD.

Marlyn was born November 18, 1954, in Minot, ND. He spent his early life in Des Lacs, ND. In 1965, he moved with family to Rapid City, SD. He pursued a career in logging in his early teenage years. Marlyn enlisted and served in the US Marine Corps from 1974 to 1978. After his service in the Marines, he worked in the logging industry and over the road trucking.

In 1980, he became a father to Alesia “Lynny” Bohm and married Cyndi (Bohm) Aker in 1985. Marlyn moved to Colorado in the late 1990s and worked in the oil field with his brothers: Mick Aker, and Mitch Aker. He moved back to Sturgis and took a break from trucking in 2013, working on the Long Ranch. In 2015, Marlyn moved to Oregon to log with his brother, Mitch. He returned to Sturgis in 2023 after retiring.
Marlyn is survived by daughter: Alesia (Deven Tatro) Bohm; grandchildren: Larsander, Cyrina, Thackery, and Chayton all of Colorado; brother: Mitchell (Crystal) Aker, of Oregon, and Vigina Albert, of South Dakota; sister-in-law: Pat Aker; brother-in-law: Bill Triplet; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces, and nephews.

Marlyn is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Betty Aker, brother, Micheal “Mick” Aker, and sister, Jeannie Triplet.
The family of Marlyn has requested casual attire for the services as that is what Marlyn would have wanted.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, with a burial to follow with military honors at Whitewood Cemetery in Whitewood, SD.
