Marvin Lee Heggem

Marvin Lee Heggem, born on September 23, 1954 in Spearfish, South Dakota passed away on April 3, 2024, at the age of 69 in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Marvin’s journey was one marked by boundless friendliness and a knack for creative solutions. His hands and inventive mind were rarely still as he was always immersed in projects that not only challenged him but also benefited those around him. Marvin’s ability to fix anything endeared him to his community where he was not just a handyman but a trusted friend and neighbor. His most favorite place to encounter people and use his creativity was at Fort Hays Chuckwagon of Rapid City with Herman Jones and the Ft. Hays work family.

Marvin’s legacy is carried forward by his wife, Linda Heggem and their children Rebecca and Matt Schaunaman, Jeremie and Holly Fischer, and MaKinzie Heggem; their grandchildren: Tanner Schaunaman and fiance, Abby Burkhart, Layton and Kaitlyn Schaunaman Davis, Kyla, Connor, Olivia and Wayne Schaunaman, Tom Cooper, Tyler and David Fischer, and Jesse Cooper; and sibling families of Mark and Jaimie Heggem, Marcia and Mark Lermeny, and Mona Balo.

Marvin’s life reminds us that every person we meet is an opportunity to share the gospel of Christ to make a positive impact, and every challenge we face is a chance to demonstrate our resilience and ingenuity. Let us celebrate Marvin, not with sorrow for his absence, but with gratitude for his enduring presence in the fabric of our memories.
