STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade 46-1 School Board met for their monthly meeting Monday night and appointed a new board member to fill the seat left vacant by the resignation of Darrel Vig.
Vig resigned in December and the board accepted applications until late December before holding interviews earlier this month.
The board voted to appoint Thomas Schneller to fill Vig’s seat. He will serve a six month term.
The board also heard from Ross Lamphere Monday night, as he presented a brief update on the Bear Butte Creek Historical Preservation Project.
Also Monday, following a special meeting last week, the board selected one of two proposals for a Strategic Planning Company. The board got presentations from RVM Consultants and Studer Education L.L.C. The board asked both presenters questions about their ability to fulfill the district’s needs over the next three years. After discussion, the board accepted the proposal from Studer Education L.L.C.
And, the board heard from Superintendent Wayne Wormstadt and Business Manager Brett Burditt, who provided a brief update on the Woodle Field Turf Project. The Buildings & Grounds Committee will bring their recommendation to the Board at the February board meeting.
