STURGIS, S.D. – Voters at Tuesday’s primary election selected three candidates for three open seats on the Meade 46-1 School Board.
Lee Spring, Justin Jutting and Sandy Cass are the unofficial winners.
Spring received 2,169 votes, Jutting received 1,922 and Cass got 1,817.
John Nachtigall and Kami Wolf-Perli were the other two candidates running.
In other school board elections, there were races for two seats on the Rapid City Area Schools Board of Education. In Area 3, former RCAS teacher Michael Birkeland defeated incumbent Gabe Doney, 2,341 to 1,772.
In Area 6, PTA Council President Jamie Clapham defeated Janyce Hockenbary, 2,436 to 1,654.
In Custer, Michelle Lehman and Heather Grace win spots.
For Hill City, Eric Lind and Rob Timm win open seats.
For the Hot Springs School Board, the two seats are won by Robert Preuss and Brian Jarding.
And there were two seats on the Rapid City Common Council in play. In Ward 2, incumbent Bill Evans retained his seat, defeating Lindsey Seachris, 826 to 744. And in Ward 5, John “J.J.” Carrell lost to Pat Roseland, 2,043 to 1,076.
