STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade 46-1 School Board met Monday night for their monthly November meeting.
On the agenda, Curriculum Director, Beth Johnson provided a presentation on the Meade School District Report Card. The district did well in Science, according to the report, scoring third in the state behind Brandon Valley and Pierre with a 56% score. The district was 8th in Math and 5th in English, Language, Arts.
Also last night, the board heard form Business Manager, Brett Burditt as he presented the 5-year capital outlay and facilities plan for FY25.
The board also heard from Superintendent, Wayne Wormstadt, who requested the Board’s approval for an additional maintenance position and to help cover staffing shortages in custodial roles.
The board also held second reading on changes to policy regarding public complaints on both curriculum and instruction material as well as library material. The policies describe how the district handles any complaints about material that may be deemed offensive or inappropriate for students.
