STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade 46-1 school board meets for their May meeting tonight.
Among the items on the agenda is the preliminary budget for Fiscal Year 2022.
The 2021-2022 General Fund is up a bit according to the report – from $20.4 million to $21.6 million. The 2021-2022 capital outlay totals an estimated $7,356,280. That is up from the 2020-2021 capital outlay of just over $6 million.
The 2021-2022 special services budget is up just a bit as well, from nearly $4,394,146 to $4,492,371.
Also on tonight’s agenda are two service agreements for custodial services at Stagebarn Middle School and Whitewood Elementary.
Additional coaching positions, bus route change requests and advertising contract are among tonight’s discussion items.

In related news, six people are running for the three Meade School Board seats up for election June 8.
Vying for the three three-year terms are incumbent Charlie Wheeler, Piedmont, past candidates, Terry Koontz, Sturgis, Shelia Trask, Elm Springs and new candidates, Aaron Odegaard, Black Hawk, Megan Snyder, Sturgis and Kassi Barry, New Underwood.
