STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade 46-1 School Board took care of some old business before swearing in new members at Monday night’s meeting.
The outgoing board took action on some personnel issues, financial reports and approved a recommendation by Superintendent Wayne Wormstadt to approve a levy request of $6.5-million for capital outlay due to increased costs for items. The maximum levies for the General Fund are determined each year by law.
Outgoing board member Charlie Wheeler was also recognized for years of service to the Meade School District 46-1 school board. Charlie was elected as a board member in 2015 and served as board president for the past two years.
After old business was complete, new board members Aaron Odegaard, Scottie Bruch and Terry Koontz were sworn in. Justin Jutting was elected to serve as President of the Board. Due to a split vote between Sandy Cass, Aaron Odegaard and Darrel Vig, there will be another vote for Vice President at the next meeting.
The new board then took care of organizational items and moved into several action items including setting the 2024-2025 food service rates and fees, approving several M.O.U.’s with various entities and scheduling a study session for July 29th.
