STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade 46-1 School Board met Monday night for their November meeting and on the agenda, the Williams Middle School re-roof project.
The board rejected a bid from All American Roofing and Sales, Inc. for the project due to unsatisfactory payment terms of 40% down upon acceptance of the bid as defined in their bid submittal. The bid from the company came in at $137,985.
Meade 46-1 School Board President Charlie Wheeler tells KBHB News the company forgot to take out the 40% down payment and because it was a sealed bid, it couldn’t be corrected after the fact.
In return, the board accepted a bid for the project from Rapid Exteriors in the amount of $140,000 with an additional 10-year warranty amount of $1,800, making it a total of $141,800.
Rapid Exteriors was the second lowest of three bids that came in for the project, which will be completed in the summer of 2023.
The board also accepted a bid from Skyline Engineering for engineering and architectural services at the Sturgis Brown High School Academy Building and Whitewood Elementary HVAC systems. That bid was for $39,000.
