STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade 46-1 School Board will hold a special work study session Monday night to discuss several topics.
The board will discuss the budget, including an overview of the current budget, the Governor’s budget proposals and there will be some early discussion for next year’s budget.
The board will also be discussing future numbers at the Whitewood School.
Board President Charlie Wheeler tells KBHB they are looking at a variety of things that can be done if student population doesn’t increase. He says they will discuss the possibility of moving the Whitewood 5th grade to Williams Middle School in Sturgis. He says the board is NOT considering closing the Whitewood School despite a social media post that suggests that.
The board Monday night will also hear from Superintendent Wormstadt, who will provide a brief overview to the Board detailing the information obtained from the Home School Presentation & Discussion that was held on January 16. Additionally, the board will discuss the district’s proposed strategy to initiate a program tailored for home school students within Meade School District 46-1.
