Meade 46-1 School District sets public input sessions for proposed new trimester plan

STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade 46-1 School District is gathering some public input on a proposed change to the look of the school day and school year at Sturgis Brown High School.

Instead of the current A-B Block Schedule, which has students alternating between four periods a day, the district is looking at changing to a 5×3 trimester starting next school year. This would give students five classes a day per twelve-week trimester.

The goal is to make the daily workload more manageable for students and teachers.

Presentations were held for for Sturgis Williams Middle School 8th graders on Tuesday. A presentation for Stagebarn MS 8th graders will be held on Wednesday, Nov 1.

Parent/Guardian presentations are scheduled for the following dates and locations:

Thursday, Nov 2 at Sturgis Brown High School – West Gym @ 6:30 pm.

Monday, Nov 6 at Stagebarn Middle School @ 6:30 pm.

Tuesday, Nov 7 at Sturgis Williams Middle School @ 6:30 pm.
