STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Commission met in special session this week to appoint a temporary county auditor.
The move follows the resignation of Helen Hall Jensen, who was the elected Meade County Auditor.
The Board of Commissioners on Monday appointed Meade County Executive Director Rhea Crane to serve as temporary auditor, with no change in salary, effective immediately.
The commission also passed a motion to have Jensen removed as a signer and acknowledge that Rhea Crane would become a signer and to appoint deputies as signers.
The search for a new auditor is currently underway.
