STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Commission met for their final meeting of the year on Tuesday.
On the agenda, the commission approved several 2023 budget transfers. Meade county Acting Auditor Rhea Crane says several budgets are overspent and needed a transfer from contingency for 2023.
Among them was $139,000 being transferred from contingency to the Auditor’s Budget. Other budgets receiving contingency funds were Treasurer’s, Court Appointed, Sheriff’s, Jail and Emergency Management.

The Commission also began discussion on Ordinance 58, which is an Ordinance Regulating Excessive Noise.
Commissioners decided to continue first reading of the ordinance until its second meeting in January.
Commissioners did approved first reading of revisions to Ordinance 11, which is an Ordinance Licensing and Regulating Peddlers, Transient Merchants, Solicitors, Professionals, Businesses and Trades Operating Outside the Boundaries of an Incorporated Municipality.
