STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Commission has kicked off the new year by setting salaries and welcoming in a new commission member.
For 2025, commissioners decided on a 3-percent wage increase that would bring compensation up to $20,085. The commission also authorized members of the planning board to receive $150 per meeting. Members of the weed and pest board will get $100 per meeting.
Elected official salaries were set for $106,192 for the State’s Attorney, Sheriff and County Coroner. That is up from $104,112 in 2024. The Register of Deeds and Treasurer salaries were set at $82,160.
Commissioners also welcomed in Earl Severn in District 4. He replaces Ted Seaman, who did not seek re-election.
District 1 Commissioner Gary Deering will serve as Chairman of the Commission and District 2 Commissioner Doreen Creed will serve as Vice-Chair.
