STURGIS, S.D. – Meade County Sheriff Pat West says deputies made a large drug bust this week at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
On Thursday night, deputies stopped a vehicle near Sturgis in which the driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Upon further investigation, the driver was arrested for possession and distribution of controlled substances after narcotics were found.
West says heroin, cocaine, marijuana, LSD, mushrooms and 48 grams of methamphetamine were confiscated. Drug paraphernalia was also found.
West says the possession and use of illicit drugs in a significant public safety issue in Meade County, and not just during the Rally. He says the sheriff’s office will continue to take an aggressive zero tolerance approach when it comes to illegal drugs and narcotics.
