Meade County Fair being held online due to COVID-19

STURGIS, S.D. – As with many events this summer, COVID-19 has meant either a cancellation or alternative way of handling things — and the 2020 Meade County Fair is among those not letting the virus slow them down.

Instead of the usual fair held at the grounds at Sturgis Brown High School, fair organizers decided to hold a virtual fair this year and hope for a full fledged, normal edition next summer.

Jenny Voigt with the fair says they are offering several different activities this year, including an online coloring contest to one where kids can build and decorate their very own face mask.

The annual 4H Achievement Days held in conjunction with the fair has also moved online, and Voigt says they wanted to make sure to give the kids an opportunity to showcase the projects they have been working on.
