STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident at a construction site that damaged equipment.
In a social media post, the sheriff’s office says it happened at a campground site where work was being done to install potable water.
Bureau of Land Management of the Dakotas says the contractor was working to install a potable water pipeline to the campgrounds and improve water access for grazing livestock at the Fort Meade Recreation Area in South Dakota.
Pictures shared by the sheriff’s office show a backhoe and smaller Bobcat style tractor were driven into a trench that was dug to lay pipe.
Authorities were still looking for the suspect or suspects and if anyone had information to contact them.
There was no word on how much damage the two pieces of equipment sustained in the joyriding incident.
