Meade County Sheriff’s Office conducts traffic safety operation on Highway 34

Meade County Sheriff - Traffic Safety Operation

STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Sheriff’s Office wrapped up another Highway Safety operation that took place on Friday.

Meade County Sheriff Pat West says this operation focused on State Highway 34 between Sturgis and Howes Corner.

West says four written warnings for speeding and one for an expired registration were handed out.

The sheriff’s office also handed out three citations for speeding. All three citations were for motorists going over 80 mph in a 65 mph zone.

West says 80 mph is not an appropriate speed for Highway 34.

The sheriff’s office says the next Highway Safety operation will be Tuesday, November 7, on Highway 212.

West says they’ll be addressing speeding and seatbelt usage.
