STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Sheriff’s Office made a drug bust following a traffic stop near Piedmont on I-90 on Saturday.
Meade County Sheriff Pat West says an investigation led to the arrest of the driver, identified as Calvin Gale, and a passenger, identified as Jessica Brave. Both were charged for being in possession of a controlled substance and a number of other charges.
As a result of that traffic stop, West says a further investigation led to a search warrant at a residence at the 5900 block Eastside Drive in Black Hawk.
Another six people were arrested at this residence and more meth was seized, along with a stolen firearm from Rapid City. West says two juveniles were taken into protective custody as well.
The six people taken into custody were identified as Anglea Batty-Butts, Megan Bennett, Robert Fisher, Maryn Fish, Don Scmitt and Joshua Logan.
In all, over 29 grams of methamphetamine were seized, along with an assortment of paraphernalia.
West says the Summerset Police Department assisted Meade County with the investigation.
The case has been turned over to the Meade County States Attorney.
All arrests are allegations at this time.
