STURGIS, S.D. – Meade County Acting Auditor Rhean Crane told the Meade County Commission that Sturgis will not move its municipal election in 2024.
The city council held a work session earlier this month to discuss the possibility of moving its April municipal election to the June primary date.
Crane, however, says the 2024 election is not the time for the city to combine polling with the county. She told county commissioners they were not willing to do that in 2024.
Sturgis Mayor Mark Carstensen had said during the work session that moving the city election may not be a good idea, especially in 2024.
