STURGIS, S.D. – Several local elections will be part of the next week’s June primary here in South Dakota.
Meade County voters will see Republican races for treasurer, sheriff, county commission and school board.
In a treasurer’s race on the Republican ticket are Robin Shrake and Robin Korth.
Shrake is currently the Meade County Treasurer and took over when the previous treasurer left.
Korth is currently the chief deputy for the Meade County Treasurer’s office.
For Meade County Commission, there are two candidates running for a seat in District 1. They are Gary Deering and Glen Haines.
Deering runs a ranch near Hereford and Haines is from Faith, running a family trucking company.
County Commission candidates in District 3 and 5 are unopposed.
In the Meade County Sheriff’s primary race are incumbent Ron Merwin and challenger Pat West.
And, for the school board, five candidates are running for three available seats. They are are incumbents John Nachtigall, Owanka, Lee Spring, Union Center and new candidates, Sandy Cass, Sturgis, Justin Jutting, Sturgis and Kami Wolf-Perli, Piedmont.
