Michael Bradley Belcourt, age 82, passed away on October 26, 2024, in Gilbert, Arizona. Born on April 6,1942 in Bottineau, North Dakota. Michael spent his early years in Newcastle where he attended local schools. He carved out a career as a long-haul truck driver, also dedicating years to driving the mine bus and working for the City of Newcastle.
Michael was an avid outdoorsman, especially known for his passion for traditional bowhunting. He crafted beautiful homemade bows and was often seen with his loyal Bluetick Coonhound, Freckles. His final years were spent with his family in Arizona.
He leaves behind a loving family including his son, Mark Belcourt of Apache Junction, AZ; daughter, Cherie (Dennis) McCarthy of Gilbert, AZ; brother, Dave Belcourt of Oro Valley, AZ; and sister, Audrey Creager of Springfield, MO. Michael was a proud grandfather to Melissa (Ryan) Nelson, Michelle (Rob) Greer, Erik (Katie) McCarthy, Whitney (Joseph) Woodworth, Cassie (James) Dawkins, and Kourtney Belcourt; and great-grandfather to Tatum, Davis, Lyric, Cohen, Ellis, Cristian, Zoe, Luke, Harper, Conway, Jack, Eli, Frances, August, Dion, Mariah, Karmyn, Alana, Barrett and River. His nieces, Jenny Belcourt and Nancy Tofflemire also survive him.
Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Sherrie Lynn Belcourt; parents, Mark and Laverne Belcourt; infant sister, Rosalie Ann Belcourt; granddaughter, Hannah Belcourt; nephew, Travis Creager; brother-in-law, Lowell Creager; mother-in-law, Billie Wheeler; and his best friend, Freckles, who passed just a couple of months ago.
In accordance with Michael’s wishes, no services will be held. Those wishing to honor his memory may make contributions to Cambria Bowhunters of Wyoming, PO Box 669, Newcastle, WY 82701, something close to his heart and reflective of his love for bowhunting.
