Michele Gerard (Jeffrey) Herz, 69, Summerset, SD climbed the staircase to heaven, Friday, November 22, 2024, peacefully, while at home surrounded by her husband Eddie and friends.
Michele was born September 25, 1955 to Paul D. and Ann K. Jeffrey in Denver, Colorado. She was number four of five children; and the most feisty and determined! Her youngster days were filled with bumps and scrapes and a broken arm from climbing and falling. But Michele rallied and kept up with her older sisters and her younger brother! After graduating from high school, she found the usual jobs looking for the right one until the   US Post Office caught her eye. Michele retired from the Post Office after 33 years.
In 1990 she met a young handsome man named Eddy Herz who swept her off her feet, and they were married in 1991. They bought the home most of the family grew up in and took care of Mom until she passed in 1994. Michele was a wonderful caregiver and eventually later was a caregiver to her Aunt Mary (her Mom’s sister) until she passed.
Michele loved travelling and had the opportunity to visit Lourdes in France. She and her hubby took their RV on many road trips to see the country and visit her family in other states. She loved her dogs George and Toby and took them with her when she could in the RV.
After selling the home in Denver, she and her husband moved to Summerset, South Dakota where she continued to bake the most awesomely delicious cakes, moist and inviting to every taste bud! And the workers and neighbors always got the first batch!
Michele, a devout Catholic, could be counted on to pray for everyone in need; and twice a day without fail, set aside time to privately conduct her prayer time to family and friends. Michele never lost her feisty determined self and added compassion, faith, adventure, and always the love of her family.
She leaves behind her husband, Eddy; his children from a previous marriage; her oldest sister, Lori Clark and husband Richard; nephew, Jimmy; adopted daughter, Ladavish; her younger brother, Chris Jeffrey and wife Jacie; a nephew, Chris Solis and wife Amy and their children, and a host of cousins across the states.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ann Jeffrey; and sisters, Stephanie Solis and Kathy Edwards.
A rosary will be held Saturday, November 30, 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Sturgis, SD, with services following at 11:00 a.m.
