Minnesota man identified as person killed in motorcycle crash near Keystone

KEYSTONE, S.D. – A Villard, MN, man has been identified as the person who died Wednesday afternoon in a vehicle-motorcycle crash south of Keystone.

A 1996 Harley Davidson motorcycle was westbound on Iron Mountain Road when the driver failed to negotiate a right-hand curve. The motorcycle entered the oncoming lane and collided with an eastbound 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup.

Dean Schwendeman, the 58-year-old motorcycle driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.

Both occupants of the pickup, a female driver and a male passenger, were wearing seat belts and were not injured. Both are 41 years old and are from Rye, CO.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
